Report on Outreach & Dental Clinic Mar 10-13, 2012

Greater Phoenix Chinese Christian Church
HOPE and how to deliver it to a people fighting for survival
Number 1, PRAY A LOT!
Number 2, Go and Do!
That’s what the American Chinese Church did last week - with 45 Team Members!
We praise God for faithful leaders, Pastor Larry and Intern Jerry
and 6 other adults who made the trip go so smoothly.
Beginning with a Dental Clinic on Sat and Sun, we were blessed with two dentists who gave of themselves and their health giving equipment and supplies. Some great assistants came along and God brought 35 hurting people into the dental chairs. Each left with a great bunch of prayer, love, and fixed teeth! And HOPE for less pain!
6 year old Jesus had a mouth full of bad teeth, rotted off by too much candy and soda pop. (Soda is cheaper than milk!) His parents, relatives of a regular attender at Nuevo Nacimiento,
got a good education in how to change habits and foods!
Ask God to use the Prayer Team’s efforts to draw these precious people into a right relationship with our Lord. Our chaplain Sheng and Dr. Maria and translator Marcia prayed with each patient before they visited the dentist.
2 teams led by Glenn, Jeff, J.D., and Paul tackled our three day building goal.
Saturday’s construction crew began work on Gilberto’s house, replacing the broken down tin and barbwire fence and rotted posts….with new steel posts and great chain link and two gates!.
Gilberto is preparing to move Dalila into the home after their wedding April 14th. Finishing the bathroom drywall and electrical and plumbing were high on the list.
The new fence will give a good measure of security and it looks 100% better!
Saturday, the Good News Club in the Invasion Area, was blessed by the visiting GPCCC Youth Group singing Spanish songs and playing music. Over 100 heard a great Bible lesson, singing a lot, and got to eat some great snacks prepped by friendly Americans. Each Family got their photo taken as Patti’s daughter and son-in-law shot lots of professional pictures to frame and give to them next week! For some it’s the first photo they have ever had taken!
Sunday church service, led by Mexican music team and then the Chinese music Team brought a joyful response from the full church. Pastor Manuel’s message brought HOPE to all.
Praises were offered for Pastor’s wife Blanca, 6 weeks free of kidney infection!
The joy of having her feeling well is such a blessing to Manuel.
Prayer was asked for Goyita (83) who continues in a coma after her stroke.
There seems to be some slight improvement.
Park outreaches and invitations to the Sunday nite Youth Meeting at the church, produced 7 new kids and 18 total, to join the 31 American students and leaders.
We enjoyed singing, music, a talent show, a devotional by Gilberto and of course Hot Dogs!
Mondays projects included bringing joy and HOPE to Juan and Sara and their extended family, by fixing their leaky roof. The humble home, near the Good News Club, is the site of a disciple-ship program every Friday nite, led by Pastor Manuel and Blanca. 5 new converts are learning basics of Biblical doctrine as the sun sets each Friday nite.
Good conversation continues on into the nite as many good questions are answered for those loving their new found Christian faith. HOPE from a true Friend and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Later this year they hope to get electricity in this area, but for now the quiet darkness and candle light lends itself well to great teaching times, as hearts hungry for HOPE in a difficult world reach out to Jesus.
Both men of the house are off working in Navajoa, their old home town, many hours away.
It’s the only work they could find. (over 8 hours away by bus).
Pray for protection for these men and others like them that travel hours each day to work in Mines, further south of Rocky Point, and some as far away as Hermosillo. (about 6 hours by bus)
The Noon outreach to a local grade school near the church gave the Team a chance to present the mime drama to several hundred kids as they left morning session school.
Monday nites outreach at the Sports Park on the NW side of town began with a soccer game and
many shouts of joy as each team gave their all!
and then ……the lively tunes from the speakers provided by a local family, who are paid by the city Parks Dept to stage exercise workouts with Zumba music for the local ladies. Better health through dancing! They agreed to stay and hear our drama and music until …..the family turned out to be Jehovah’s Witnesses and reluctantly took the packets our youth passed out to all in attendance. An invitation to the Nuevo church and a Gospel of Romans,
with the evangelistic “Roman’s Road” message.
Pray for open hearts and minds to receive the Word of God.
Walking the streets on Monday gave our youth insight into poverty living conditions around the GNC and several of the families identified themselves as regular attenders. The Team showed Christ’s love to one family
by pushing a loaded wheelbarrow several blocks thru the sandy streets.
The Prayer Circle on the front yard at Juan and Sara’s brought tears of gratitude
and HOPE for the friendship shown and the new roof!
The fun thing about sharing prayer with this group of youth and leaders is that we can pray in Spanish, Chinese, English and Filipino! God certainly richly blessed us with satisfying work and friendships.
The uneventful trip home ended on Tues nite in Chandler, with much rejoicing over God’s goodness.
